PGA DFS

We have the Zurich Classic which is a team-based event where the top 33 teams (and ties) will make the cut. It will be a tough but also easy week in DFS and Fantasy Golf. What I mean by that is this week we see a lot of random results. At the same time it is somewhat easy to see which teams where should be on. It is just a matter of whether or not those teams play well or how well they do play. Should be a fun week.

The RBC Heritage is one of my favorite courses on the PGA Tour rotation, and this year it will be getting a great field as it is an "Elevated Event:" The biggest early concern that I have about this week is the potential burnout for golfers. An example of that could be using the Dell Technologies Match Play Tournament. All the golfers that made good runs, there and had good starts at the Masters faded, while the one golfer that didn't do too hot there Jon Rahm ended up pullin

The 2023 Masters is here, and although we all love the spectacle that is The Masters it is a very tilting week in fantasy golf. It is a week that given the soft pricing, and the number of casuals that we want to attack, on the flip side this tournament given the size of the field, and the 20 or so players that we know have basically 0 shot of playing well that this tournament will essentially play out as a no-cut event. The Valero Texas Open is stuffed in between last week's two events, and next week's event The Masters. With that it typically does not draw the best field, thus we tend to see more random results in terms of winners. This week I could see that being the case, but I think almost every golf fan is cheering for Rickie Fowler to win this week so that he can make the Masters. That comes with Rickie playing some great golf, and coming in as the top pick this week.

Well we are off to a pretty PURE start for the WGC Match Play, and let's hope that can continue into the Corales, which is looking like a pretty strong opportunity this week.

This week we have the Dell Technologies Match Play Tournament which is one of those fun but tedious weeks in PGA DFS. Thankfully we will also have the Corales Championship for those more traditional PGA DFS players ( This will be a separate writeup ).

The Florida swing will be coming to an end this week with the Valspar Championship. This is typically a tournament that is difficult. In a way all the courses on the Florida swing somewhat play the same. Golfers need to be limiting the number of mistakes that they are making and they will be successful. If the weather is bad this could easily play as the most difficult tournament of the season. It is a fun tournament, and we have a decent field this week that will make it mor

The Players Championship is going to be the best field that we get this whole season, and hopefully the best edge that we get all season. This tournament we typically see a big edge in find which players are not priced correctly, which is easy to spot this week in DFS, and we also get a lot of new / "majors" only PGA DFS players into this event. Basically by not being dumb we can find edges.

We have another elevated field event this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, we are also getting a secondary event in the Puerto Rico Open. Needless to say I am excited for fantasy golf this week.

The Honda Classic is here, which is played on PGA National which is a very tough short track. This is due to typical heavy winds, and the fact that the course is water lined. Typically speaking courses that play harder are actually easier to predict, because golfers are not able to get away with bad shots as much, thus the good golfers tend to excel more. Tiger is back for the Genesis Invitational, and we have Netflix's "Full Swing" dropping on Wednesday as well. It is going to be a fun week in fantasy golf, and let's hope that is because we have a good week as well.

Waste Management Phoenix Open week is here, THE PEOPLE'S CHAMPIONSHIP, THE SIXTH MAJOR?. It is a great field and I am excited to get into it this week.

Jumping into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am which is a star-studded field, just not for golfers. The highest-priced player on the slate this week is Jordan Spieth who is coming in off of a missed cut which should tell you the caliber of the field that we have this week. However it will be an interesting week for fantasy golf. This week is typically a week in which we experience higher variance, this is due to the 3-course rotation as well as the pro-am nature of the event. I do

The Farmers Insurance Open starts Wednesday Morning, so be ready for your lineups to lock early! We will be having a two-course rotation this week as well. The South Course is the main course that will be played on three times whereas the North Course is the easier of the two. So we will be prioritizing the North Couse for Showdowns.

I wouldn't say last week was an "easy" week but it was another solid week.

The season of "Easy" PGA DFS continued last week which either tells me the Model cracked the code or we have the potential to have a little bit of a let down spot sometime soon. I do think the changes that I made to the 925 model this offseason are actually pretty huge, although small differences we can see them adding up both week to week and now season long.

The Sentry Tournament of Champions is always a "fun" tournament to ease us back into the PGA DFS season. With that we look to continue what was a great start to the 2023 season during the fall where every week it seemed like a member had a chance to win a GPP. The only problem with the Fall Swing was that not enough people were targeting it. I am hoping that the updates I have made to the data/website will continue to prove to be very worthwhile.

in 2022 we saw the DFS Companies / Sports Betting Companies figure out how to properly project players, this led to us no longer benefitting from having "Free" squares. This also led to us knowing that you must pay up for the high-priced studs as they were finally priced as a stud. Due to this, and due to golfer being a unique sport in which rosters are only 6 golfers I thought it would both be fun, and useful to track what goes into a winning line both for CASH and GPPs.

The RSM Classic is typically a fun tournament for DFS and betting as it is a true full tournament field event. This year however it is looking like it could be the worst of the fall events thus far this season. This is the first time since making the "Data Tag" that we do not have single golfer ranking out as a Core Play, and with the WD of Tony Finau we only have 5 golfers ranking out as High Exposure plays. This is a sign that this could be a high-variance week.

Houston Open week, and it is drawing in a pretty solid crowd of golfers this week. Like last week it is going to be pretty easy to make a solid build, and as long as you avoid at least one random missed cut it should be a strong week.
